Wizard needs food, badly!

Arrgh.

According to my notes, I barely ate 1,000 cals today... (that is, assuming I didn't forget any snacks or anything.) I'm trying to stick to about 1,500 to 1,700, based on the assumption that I burn 2,000 to 2,300 a day.

I don't know what my problem is lately. I'm not consciously eating less... I just haven't been terribly hungry. Part of it, I suppose, is that I've been down lately. The other part might be that I'm one of those people who will completely forget to eat if she's adequately distracted.

Gah...

Gah. I've had pizza four nights in the last two weeks.

I really gotta get more inventive with my menu.

At least it was all yummy.

Food for thought

I don't know what my problem was yesterday, but I felt like I was absolutely starving most of the day -- even though I kept my water jug close by. After my early dinner yesterday, I went on to eat a bowl of pasta and sauce, plus a few snacks.

Today I've had some instant oatmeal and a salad from Wendy's. I don't know what it is about salads but I usually walk away from them hungrier than when I started. Now I feel like dashing out to the dollar store to pick up some bad snacks.

Though, with a few more footsteps, I could go to the grocery store and get some good snacks -- apples and the like.

I still haven't stocked up on fruits & veggies this week, so a trip to the store is well overdue.

Meal Tally

Eaten Today:

Breakfast

Quaker Instant Oatmeal -- Apple Cinnamon
Blueberry/Banana Smoothie

Midday Snack
Quaker Oatmeal Bar

Lunch
PB and J Sandwich

Midafternoon Snack
Dry Cereal -- Honey Bunches of Oats w/ Almonds

Early Dinner
Subway 6" Turkey on Wheat w/ The Works
Subway Apple Slices
Subway Lowfat Milk

Need to run to the store tonight or tomorrow to pick up some hand fruit and veggies. Maybe some apples, raisins and carrots. I got a bag of apples last week and they all disappeared (methinks that's a GOOD thing.)

Grrr...

Been pretty depressed lately.

Okay, been REALLY depressed lately.

My computer is down, my stress is high, my grades are low and I'm barely on speaking terms with my friends. Mom's talking about selling our house to pay off our debts.

I haven't totally given up on the whole healthy eating thing, I've just lost a lot of motivation. I don't fit into my favorite pants or my Air Force fatigues anymore -- which should motivate me to get going -- but I've just sort of lost the will.

I'm not starving myself, but I really have to work at eating. Not that I don't want to eat, I'm just not very hungry these days.

I'm looking into fitness/sports classes at a local community college. I don't really like going to the gym or doing mindless running, so I'm thinking a karate class or something might help get me off the couch (and boost my self-esteem a little). I found my uniform from my old Hapkido classes, but it doesn't look like they're offering any classes any time soon, at least not from that instructor. I'm interested in fencing and swordplay, but they only seem to offer those classes while I'm at work. Argh.

Maybe I'll see if the park district has any archery, fencing, or karate classes.

...or maybe I'll take a nap.

Argh...

Shopping list

Running out to the store this morning to restock on munchables. Lately I've been having to buy stuff I can store in my room, otherwise someone else eats it before I do. (Yes, I have family members who will eat the entire bottle of peanuts, three soup bowl of cereal, half a container of rasins, etc.)

Heck, I'll eat a whole frozen pizza in one sitting if I don't get creative about dinner.

Only problem this creates, though, is how do I store the refrigerated stuff? Any milk I buy will be gone by the end of the day. My family guzzles Whole Milk -- anything less is poured down the drain. Best I can do is buy an extra gallon or two and hope there's enough left for me.

I need out of this house. -.-*

To buy or not to buy?

Hmm, we've got a pretty good treadmill going up at our eBay store pretty soon, I'm tempted to bid on it. (It's not technically against eBay rules, but it's not considered good practice either.)

Regardless, it's a NordicTrak with all the bells and whistles. I could scrape the funds together to get it, but I know Dad would make my life miserable if I did.

Bah.

I'm getting really, really tired of my parents forcing fast food on me. Yeah, the stuff is great every once in a while, but going to a different fast food vendor every day doesn't change the fact that most of it is fattening and rather unhealthy. Dad's the culprit most of the time, because he thinks he can buy my affections with food or something. So he buys me hot dogs and White Castles or whatever. I think I mentioned all the pastries and stuff he buys me. Grr.

Granted, I don't HAVE to eat it. I can just throw the stuff out, but then dad would convince himself I have an eating disorder and then get violent. So I'll just take the fat saturated calories and be done with it.

Meal Stats

Ended up having dinner and supper yesterday, as I went out with some friends

Dinner: Mom's Chili
Mainly Ground Beef & Kidney Beans (Protein, Fiber)
Milk (Vitamin D, Calcium)

Supper: BLT Burger & Fries (Naughty, but oh-so-tasty)
Chocolate Milkshake
And the vow to never go back to that resturaunt due to lack of well... not meat dishes. Though, in retrospect, I probably could have ordered a chicken salad without the chicken (since I'd already had plenty of meat earlier in the day.) But whatever. I had fun and it tasted good.

Today's breakfast...

Same as yesterday:

Quaker instant Oatmeal (Apple Cinnamon)
Chiquita Banana
Bolthouse Juice Smoothie (Blueberry/Raspberry)

Calories: 450
Nutritional benefits: 15g Fiber, 5g protein, Plenty of vitamins/antioxidents.

Also noticed that the smoothies that I like to drink have quite a bit of sugar in 'em. Not as much as a can of soda, granted, but still.
Breakfast/Brunch

Got a really late start today. Dad ended up in the hospital late last night, and I didn't get to bed until around four am. Oy...

Anyway, breakfast. (Ok, technically brunch.)

Normally I either skip breakfast (Yes, i know, naughty naughty) or just grab a fruit cup or something, but since I got up late, I opted for something a little more balanced.

BRUNCH Roundup

Quaker Instant Oatmeal (Cinnamon Roll Flavor)
Why: It was quick, tasty, and 3g of fiber goodness.

Chiquita Banana
Why: Potassium never tasted so yummy.

Bolthouse Blue Goodness Fruit Smoothie (Blueberry/Rasperry)
Why: ZOMG! BLUEBERRIES!

Overall: 450 calories. 15g Fiber, 5g Protein, ZOMG!
Obligatory introductory post

Hey, hi, hello and welcome!

This blog is my journal on a path to a healthier living. Inspired by some of the other health-related blogs I've seen popping up around LJ, I've decided to write down (and hopefully share) with others my thoughts and experiences. Maybe they'll help someone out. Maybe they spark a discussion. Maybe someone, somewhere will find it amusing, if not encouraging, and we can -- perhaps -- take this journey together.
